Description: Shawsheen Valley Technical High School is seeking a long-term substitute for the Health Assisting program beginning as soon as possible. This position is anticipated to continue until coverage is no longer needed.

 

Position Overview: The Health Assisting program is seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Long-Term Substitute Instructor to support student learning and maintain program continuity. The ideal candidate will have experience in health assisting, or a related technical field, as well as a strong commitment to hands-on, project-based instruction for high school students.

 

Responsibilities:

• Deliver daily instruction in accordance with the Chapter 74 Health Assisting framework and existing curriculum plans.
• Supervise students in both shop and classroom settings, ensuring a safe, productive, and inclusive learning environment.
• Support students in the development of technical skills
• Implement ongoing projects and guide students through competencies already in progress.
• Maintain accurate attendance and grading.
• Collaborate with shop staff.
• Uphold all school policies, safety procedures, and vocational program expectations.

Qualifications:

• Experience in the health assisting or a related field preferred.
• Prior teaching or training experience is preferred, especially in a vocational/technical environment.
• Ability to manage a project-based, hands-on classroom with diverse learners.
• Strong communication and organizational skills.
• DESE Chapter 74 license preferred but not required for substitute placement.

Compensation: $250-$300 per day
